* He loves Muggle bands, comic books and t-shirts with random, quirky messages on them. He also loves Muggle books, especially mystery and adventure novels. His favorite books remain Peter Pan and The Princess Bride

* He's an extremely cheap drunk. 2 glasses of wine (or equivalent) and he starts to get tipsy. At 3 he's very giggly and affectionate, at 4 he loses all inhibitions and more than 4 and he passes out within an hour.

* He wrote his first short story in 3rd year. It was called Quidditch Terror, about a traveling Quidditch team that got stranded in Scotland and had to battle zombies to get home. Only his closest friends (Anthony and Michael) ever read it, before he stuffed it away in his trunk.

* Is addicted to Muggle caffeinated drinks, red licorice and crisps. These three things are all his diet consists of when in the midst of a writing frenzy. He'll go through TONS and afterwards needs to make sure he indulges in plenty of physical activity keep from getting pudgy.

* Terry's first snog was with a male Beauxbatons' student at the Yule Ball in 4th year. The two corresponded for a time, but the long distance relationship didn't work out. Terry's first girlfriend was in 5th year, his first boyfriend in 6th year. 7th year was too scary to think about romance. Terry is what we call a serial monogamist, though no relationship ever lasted longer than a year and he was never able to fully commit himself to someone else. One of his biggest regrets is that because of this he's never had children.

Other: Maddie and Gareth met on their first day at Hogwarts and were sorted one after the other into Ravenclaw. They were best friends from first day, and when they left school in 1974 (after receiving 6 Outstanding NEWTs each) they decided to apply at Gringott's and become Curse Breakers. For the next 14 years they traveled where they were needed. Somewhere along the way they had Terry, though they never bothered to get married. In 1988 Terry was injured on a case, and the family moved to England, where Maddie took a job at a bookshop in Diagon Alley and Gareth went to work for the Committee on Experimental Charms.

Gareth worked his way up in the Charms committee and Maddie was promoted to Manager of the bookshop when Terry was in 4th year. Terry almost didn't return to Hogwarts for his 7th year, only just passing the requirements of the Muggleborn Registration Committee. His mother, however, went on the run to avoid getting thrown in Azkaban. He tried to keep his head down, but he hadn't been brought up that way and started speaking out against the Carrows. Just before Easter break in his 7th year, Terry received word that his parents had been killed by Snatchers. Maddie had attempted to see Gareth, and both were captured and killed. Terry retreated to the Room of Requirement and didn't speak until the Final Battle.

Personality

Personality: Terry is cheerful, forgetful and loud. He's a fun professor, but not very strict. He's also something of a mad scientist and enjoys blowing things up in the name of progress.
Special abilities/strengths/flaws: Strengths:: Creative, friendly, cheerful in face of extreme odds, brave, Charms, Transfiguration, experimenting, easy-going, optimistic, independent, dreamer, is able to cast the patronus charm (a squirrel) Weaknesses: his optimism can be annoying at times, somewhat absent-minded, restlessness, tactlessness, clumsiness, unwillingness to commit, and a tendency to ignore important details when looking at a larger, sketchy picture
Quirks: Before beginning work, his quills need to be lined up according to height on his desk; flutters his hands when talking about something he's passionate about; chews his fingernails when especially wound up, whether he's nervous, excited or annoyed; gets sick to his stomach after Apparating or Portkeying
Relevant backstory: After the Battle at Hogwarts, Terry took his NEWTs and did very well, especially in Charms. He took a job at the Ministry in the Experimental Charms Division. He dated a lot, but nothing was ever serious. He wanted kids but sadly that never happened for him. In 2004 he wrote his first book for children, and in 2014 published the first of the Max Olyphant series. They were immensely popular with the 10-14 set, and to date he has written 10 novels in that series, as well as a couple stand-alones. In 2021 he left the Ministry and took the position as Charms instructor at Hogwarts. He is a popular professor, always willing to help and he hardly ever assigns detentions or takes points. Recently he met Dominque Weasley and started a relationship with her, despite the age difference. He finds her utterly charming and fun, though the guilt over her becoming a werewolf is strong.
